Last year, when Catherine and Dan decided to hire AMPLIFIED BAND to perform at their wedding reception party at Fairlawns Hotel, Walsall, we let out a collective “yes!”. Don’t get us wrong – there are many fine wedding venues available in the West Midlands; but in our humble opinion, Fairlawns Hotel is one of the best. It’s not that the hotel is far more spectacular or opulent than other hotels. But from a live band perspective, it’s a great venue as the performance room has really nice acoustics. Simply put, it’s very hard for a live band not to sound great at Fairlawns Hotel!
Having said that, if you are looking to hire a live band for your wedding reception, birthday or business function at Fairlawns, our advice would be to not necessarily rely on the fact that the acoustics of the room are great and that just about any band will sound good there. I guess what we are really saying is don’t cut corners when it comes to hiring a live band. While it might make sense to hire a pub-style band you may have seen playing locally, or your friends’ band, in reality, when it comes to your big day, you’ll want to make sure that everything goes smoothly and without a hitch. Hiring an amateur band may mean that your overall budget won’t suffer, but can you be sure that they will play music that ALL your guests will want to dance to, or arrive on time, if at all?
Apologies – we don’t wish to scaremonger you, but each year we receive last minute phone calls from desperate brides, groom and other party planners, hoping that we will be able to perform at their function at the last minute because the amateur band they have hired have cancelled or double booked themselves. You best insurance against this situation is to hire a professional band. Why? Because once you have confirmed a booking with a professional band, they won’t cancel. Also, the styles of music they play will be a lot broader and there will be songs to entertain all of your guests.
If there is any downside to hiring a professional band, it’s the cost. As you may have discovered, professional bands charge a lot more than amateur bands to perform, and in addition to the fee quoted, you may find out that there will be extra charges for DJ music to be played during the bands’ breaks, or for learning song requests that aren’t already part of the bands’ playlist. Of course, there’s a reason why we’re telling you this – when, as we hope you do, you ask AMPLIFIED BAND to quote for a performance, there will be absolutely no extra or hidden charges – no VAT, no travel or accommodation fees, and no charge for playing DJ music or learning songs. Here’s what we provide:
- Four piece professional function band featuring male and female vocals
- Classic live band line up with a twist – vocals, guitar, bass, drums AND saxophone
- 2 x 1 hour sets or 3 x 40 minute sets of rock, soul, indie, pop, funk and more
- You get to choose the music we play!
- Additional music requests performed free of charge – ask us to learn your first dance
- DJ-style music mixed and played during the bands’ breaks to keep you guests on the dance floor
- The sound of a large events band but without the huge price tag
- PA and lights
Catherine and Dan loved the fact that we provided everything they needed to create a superb party vibe for their guests. Catherine said:
“We all had a fantastic evening thanks to AMPLIFIED BAND. We really like the fact that the male and female vocals work together but you don’t make it sound cheesy. All the songs sound great and we love Vickis’ voice and sax playing. Everyone was on the dance floor and Dan and I would highly recommend you to anyone.”
